We have rebuilt our Match Center platform from the ground up. Faster rendering, richer data, and a new widget system that plugs into any website or app.
Match Center 2.0 is live. After eight months of development, we have shipped a complete rebuild of our most widely deployed product. Here is what changed and why.
Why We Rebuilt
The original Match Center was built in 2019 for a different web. Single-page applications were the dominant paradigm, mobile traffic was a secondary concern, and the expectation for data latency was measured in seconds rather than milliseconds. Five years of feature additions on top of that foundation had accumulated significant technical debt.
What's New
First contentful paint is now under 800ms on a standard 4G connection. The previous version averaged 2.4 seconds. This matters — every 100ms of latency reduces engagement with live sports data by measurable amounts.
The new modular widget architecture means clients can embed specific data modules — scorecard, partnership tracker, wagon wheel, match timeline — independently, rather than deploying the full widget suite.
What's Coming
Phase 2 of the Match Center 2.0 rollout includes a personalisation layer — allowing end users to customise which data views they see by default — and an enhanced API that exposes all widget data for clients who want to build custom interfaces. Both are targeted for Q2 2026.
If you are a current Match Center customer, your migration will happen automatically over the next four weeks. Nothing on your end needs to change. If you are not yet a customer and want to see what Match Center 2.0 looks like in a live environment, get in touch.
